This program gives parents and children the resources and skills necessary to cope with the emotional, social and psychological impacts of abuse or other traumatic experiences.

COS serves parents/caregivers and their children ages 4-18, residing in selected cities in the northeast area of Miami-Dade and in need of family strengthening services.

Using Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, COS therapists and clinicians help families (parent/child survivors of trauma) learn to address and resolve the distress resulting from these events and decrease negative behavior patterns and emotional responses they have developed in response. In addition to clinical therapy, participants receive informal peer support, bereavement support and referrals/linkages with Family Navigators assigned to assist them to access partner resources, so they can further access a continuum of care and services that improve their at-risk status, coping skills and parent/child interactions.
