Gang Alternative is a nonprofit organization dedicated to engaging boys and girls and their family in the Greater Miami area in positive alternatives to youth violence and delinquency by offering a holistic approach to their academic, physical, social, and spiritual development.
This program provides year round out of school services (after school and summer camp), for up to 60 children; Ages 5-14, in elementary and middle school. We serve the general population of children as well as, Children with Disabilities (CWD Learning, emotional/behavioral, development, and moderate physical disabilities).
The Building Leaders of Character (BLOC) utilizes an evidence-based program designed to teach adolescents the Aggression Replacement Training (ART) curriculum. It is recognized as an effective program by Helping America’s Youth. The goal of the program is to improve psychological skills, anger control, moral reasoning, and social problem-solving skills.
The Youth Excellence Program (YEP) is a year-round social development program for at-risk youth ages 8 through 18. Participants are referred by 8 local middle/ high schools, local churches, and other social service agencies. That addresses factors for substance abuse and other negative behaviors. Services will be provided in participating schools, churches, summer camps, after-school and “Safe Haven” community settings.
