The Gang Alternative Minority Violence Prevention Project 88 (MVP 88) is completing a 4-year study of innovative and culturally competent approaches designed to significantly reduce the impact and prevalence of violence among racial/ethnic minorities in several Miami Zip codes. These include 33127, 33137, 33142, 33147 and 33150, which cover the city of Miami and the communities of Little Haiti, Liberty City, Pinewood, Westgate, Westview and Biscayne Park. Some of the areas MVP 88 concentrates on include:.

  • Student and Family Engagement
  • Life Skills Development
  • Academic Enrichment
  • College Readiness
  • Mentoring
  • College Tours
  • Summer Camp

MVP 88 is dedicated and named to commemorate the 88 teens killed by gun violence in Miami since 2013. It is funded by Health and Human Services Department, Office of Minority Health.

The genius of MVP88 is that it gives the youth a new perspective on life. As they grow thorough the program they come to realize that, no matter what the society around them tells them, they can be their own Most Valuable Person (MVP). The program serves youth from the ages of 14-18 who attend Miami Edison Senior High School and Miami Northwestern Senior High School.
