Gang Alternative, Inc.’s Annual Back to School Drive

Gang Alternative, Inc. hosted its annual Back to School Drive for all our participants across Miami Dade County. The drive was hosted at the Little Haiti Cultural Complex and brought about over 500 youth. The backpack drive was   designed as an educational and fun-filled day with a hot lunch, face painting,   creative hat designs, and 2 Mobile Gaming trucks loaded with the best and latest video games for full entertainment as well as   several information booths from community partners.

This drive is important for our community as it provides hundreds of impoverished students with supplies they would not otherwise have. GA staff distributed almost 1000 backpacks and school supplies much as notebooks,     folders, pencils, pens, crayons, markers,   highlighters, erasers,   calculators, and   paper.

This event was made possible through the support of The Children’s Trust, Little Haiti   Cultural Complex, ITech, Borinquen Health Care Center, Florida International University’s Green Family Foundation Neighborhood Help, Miami-Dade Public   Library System, and History Miami Museum. This event highlights our community upliftment and partnerships and positive youth development pillars of service.
