Data Coordinator
The Data Coordinator will be a part of Gang Alternative, Inc.’s Data Management and Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement Team. He/she will be responsible for ensuring that data is collected, inputted, verified, stored, managed and analyzed correctly. He/she is responsible for producing various data-related reports for internal and external consumption. The Data Coordinator is also responsible for developing and enforcing data management policies. He/she will apply data to the organization’s daily operations to increase participant and partner satisfaction; inform new programming areas; assess Gang Alternative, Inc.’s performance beyond funder-obligations; and improve revenue potential and partnership support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Efficiently organize, store and analyze data with attention to security and confidentiality.
• Establish rules and procedures for data sharing with management and external stakeholders.
• Maintain responsibility for GA’s data systems, ensuring that they are secure (in compliance with HIPAA) and protected from potential breaches or malicious attacks.
• Devise and implement efficient and secure procedures for data handling and analysis with attention to all technical aspects.
• Formulate techniques for quality data collection to ensure adequacy, accuracy and legitimacy of data.
• Prepare data reports and analysis.
• Review data, from both internal and external databases, for inconsistencies or anomalies that could skew analytical results.
• Provide recommendations to executive leadership based on evaluation of data collected.
• Ensure that information flows timely and securely to and from the organization as well as within.
• Conduct organization-level evaluations.
• Support other staff members in the daily use of data systems and ensure adherence to organization standards.
• Ensure digital databases and archives are well organized and protected from security breaches and data losses.
• Maintain the databases and internal server, and conduct routine maintenance as needed to ensure data integrity.
• Make recommendations for software, hardware and data storage upgrades.
• Conduct research to garner sound data to support revenue generation.
• Serve as the point-of-contact for external IT service provider.
• Review presentations, tables and graphs developed by staff for accuracy and quality
• Develop standard operating procedures for data handling and archiving.
• Ensure the integrity, confidentiality and security of all datasets.
Qualifications and Competencies
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Administration or related field.
• At least 2 years of experience in data management/data analysis, preferably in a non-profit organization.
• Familiarity with modern database and information system technologies, including Apricot and Social Solutions.
• Excellent understanding of data administration and management functions (collection, analysis, distribution etc.)
• Strong understanding of data analysis procedures.
• Proficiency in digesting and analyzing large amounts of data.
• Detail-oriented.
• Provide technical assistance and training to staff in the use of computers, standard software packages and on-line information systems.
• Streamline data collection and analysis procedures to ensure fast access to metrics.
• An analytical mindset with problem-solving skills.
• Tech-savvy with excellent troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
• Other duties assigned.
