Natural Helper
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and recruit clients in target communities.
- Responsible for aiding the establishment of rapport between clients and assigned Case Manager/Success Coach.
- Assist families in identifying and overcoming barriers to services.
- Encourage treatment/care coordination engagement and follow-through on needed referral-based services.
- Provide education related to service (e.g., patient rights, privacy notices, behavior support and management philosophy, grievance procedures).
- Coordinate and/or conduct home visits to clients at the discretion of the Program Manager.
- Coordinate and/or participate in program and community meetings to maximize parent voice, choice, and involvement.
- Assist in conducting client intakes.
- Advocate on behalf of families to ensure access to internal and external resources.
- Support Case Managers/Success Coaches in making internal and external referrals.
- Maintain and update the directory of referral networks.
- Assist families in navigating various systems including those associated with public benefits and the justice system.
- Assist in coordinating activities for parent and family engagement events.
- Abide by all HIPPA rules and regulations. Maintain strict confidentiality when handling client information.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Competencies
- High School Diploma/GED
- Bilingual (English-Haitian Creole)
- Incumbent must have demonstrated lived experience in the child protective/welfare services (as a child/youth or parent/caregiver).
- Relevant experience working with disadvantaged/underserved families and/or youth in Miami-Dade County.
- Familiarity with the Miami-Dade social sector (including direct service providers) is a must.
- Willingness to work flexible schedules as deemed necessary including weekends and evenings.
- High cultural competence and sensitivity is a must.
- Model effective self-management and coping techniques.
- Ability to prepare reports and other correspondence required by program.
- Ability to work in a diverse team environment, while also working independently.
- Demonstrated capacity to handle multiple tasks, projects and meet deadlines.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong administrative and organizational skills.
- Must maintain confidentiality with sensitive information.
- Ability to take a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite especially Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Serve as an Ambassador of Gang Alternative, Inc.
- Other duties as assigned.
Note:
- This position may require independent travel between workstation and other sites. Consequently, the incumbent must always maintain valid Driver’s License and insurance coverage on personal vehicle during
- Performing the duties of this position requires the ability to walk, sit, stand, reach, talk, hear, and lift presentation materials, including equipment.
