Circle of Strength (COS)
COS Family Strengthening Network
This Circle of Strength Family Strengthening Network gives parents and children the resources and skills necessary to cope with the emotional, social, and psychological impacts of abuse or other traumatic experiences.
COS serves parents/caregivers and their children ages 4-18, who demonstrate a need for family strengthening services and who reside in selected cities in the northern region of Miami-Dade County.
Using Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavior Therapy, COS therapists/ clinicians teach families ways to address maladaptive behavior patterns and resolve the distress resulting from traumatic events. This evidence-based approach aims to build on positive coping skills, process and overcome trauma, support parents through education and improve the participants overall mental and emotional health. Eligible participants also receive informal peer support, bereavement support and referrals/linkages with the assistance of Family Navigators to facilitate access to partner resources, so they can further benefit from a continuum of care and services that improve their at-risk status, coping skills and parent/child interactions.
Circle of Strength Parenting Program provides free, year-round in-home services to nurture parenting skills, promote maternal and child health, and support child development to establish healthy family relationships.
COS-P serves parents/caregivers with children in the home ranging from birth to 11 years, who demonstrate a need for family strengthening services and reside in selected cities in the northern region of Miami-Dade County.
