Guiding the Path to Success 21st Century (GPS 21)
Who we serve: K-5 Students
Where: Orchard Villa Elementary School
Goal: Preparing students for lifelong learning and well-being
Positive self-esteem and self-confidence are important factors in academic success. Supporting a young student with activities outside their time in school helps motivate them to become better students and increases their belief in themselves.
Guiding the Path to Success 21st Century (GPS 21) supports students through academic success, personal growth and increased literacy. It is under our Positive Youth Development Pillar of Service.
Supporting the student after school and during the summer helps nurture lifelong learning in a safe, inclusive environment. We do this through things like homework assistance, physical fitness and nutrition education.
STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) activities are designed for students to learn and practice science in ways that are meaningful to their everyday lives. GPS 21 also encourages parent involvement with multiple activities throughout the school year and during the summer.
Students attends GPS 21 on Tuesdays from 3:10 - 6:10 pm and 4:10 - 6:10 pm Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. During the summer, GPS 21 operates from 8 am - 6 pm. Funded by the Children’s Trust.
