Youth Summits and Dialogue Days
Youth Summits
Today’s youth are pulled in several directions, and have plenty of ways to stay busy. Yet, how many of those activities allow youth to focus on themselves, to build leadership, teamwork, and critical thinking skills? In an effort to provide space for building these characteristics, we offer Youth Leadership Summits.
Our semi-annual summits are a place for our youth to develop into independent, critical thinkers. They will develop leadership skills, learn to work with others on a common goal, and get educated about potential pitfalls, like drugs and alcohol.
Miami-Dade County youth who have participated in our summits and Dialogue Days have reported them to be fun and educational. We offer free food, giveaways, and community service hours for attendance.

Youth Dialogue Days
Youth Dialogue Days offer a chance for young people in Miami-Dade County to truly be heard. Twice a year, we invite community stakeholders and local youth to discuss what is on the minds of our young people.
Community stakeholders include people and representatives from the Sheriffs’ Office, Principals, County Commissioners, Community Organizations, the Miami-Dade County School District, the Miami-Dade County Library System, and others.
In the Dialogue Day, youth of Miami-Dade County raise issues they feel are important. They then describe their viewpoint on these issues to stakeholders. Community leaders then wait until the end of the session to confirm what they heard. The goal of the dialogue is for stakeholders to take information back to their organizations, and begin working on solutions.
These Dialogue Days are a rare opportunity for young people to have the undivided attention of our community. We invite you to attend the next one!
