Project M-PACT program

The M-PACT program (Mentoring through Positive Action, Character, and Transformation) is Gang Alternative’s mentoring program designed to support youth ages 10–17 from Title I schools in communities such as Fort Lauderdale and Lauderhill. The program provides positive adult relationships, guidance, and support to help youth build confidence, make healthy decisions, succeed academically, and develop positive relationships with their peers.

Mentoring is an all-encompassing way to encourage personal and professional growth. It is a partnership between the mentor and mentee where together they seek to discover and develop the mentee’s strengths and abilities while encouraging the acquisition of knowledge, wisdom, and life skills. The mentor serves as a counselor, teacher, advisor, and positive role model, enabling the mentee to practice and strengthen their communication, decision-making, emotional regulation, and relationship-building skills. Through this shared experience, both the mentor and mentee have the opportunity to learn, grow, and develop a meaningful connection.

Project M-PACT mentors participate in weekly two-hour group mentoring sessions and monthly one-to-one mentoring with youth. Mentors help reinforce program lessons, support academic success, encourage positive decision-making, and assist youth in setting and achieving personal goals. Mentors may also participate in special activities addressing bullying, cyberbullying, empathy, respect, and safe conflict resolution.
