Families affected by violence, abuse or neglect
Broward County
To help children and youth, ages 0–17, who have been affected by crime or violence.

Experiencing violence, abuse, neglect, or another crime can have a lasting effect on a child’s safety and emotional well-being. Families may also face challenges finding timely support that respects their culture, language, and individual needs.
Project SHINE helps children and youth, ages 0–17, in Broward County who have been affected by crime or violence. The program provides compassionate, trauma-informed support that puts each child’s safety, voice, and healing first.
Project SHINE provides compassionate, trauma-informed services to children and youth affected by child abuse, neglect, domestic violence, sexual violence, community violence, gun violence, and other crimes. The program places each young person’s safety, voice, and needs at the center of care.

- Secure virtual services when appropriate
Every child deserves to feel safe, supported, and empowered to heal. Project SHINE helps young people and their families move beyond trauma toward resilience and hope.
To make care easier to access, families may receive support in person, during evening or weekend hours, or through secure virtual appointments when appropriate.
Project SHINE works with schools, law enforcement, juvenile justice agencies, behavioral health providers, and community organizations. These partnerships help identify children who may need assistance and connect families with coordinated services as quickly as possible.
Through Project SHINE, Gang Alternative, Inc. helps children and families move toward greater safety, healing, resilience, and hope. If a child or young person in your care has been affected by crime or violence, Project SHINE may be able to help.
