GPS Celebrates National Reading Month

Our National Reading Month was a huge success! All 7 GPS sites participated by pledging to read several books.

Youth participants in grades K-5 enjoyed reading and sharing their favorite books with our guest readers throughout the month. Our 5th graders demonstrated their leadership skills by participating in our Read to Lead activities by reading to the younger groups.

Participants took a virtual tour of the Homestead Cyberbarium, signed up for library cards, and discovered what it was like to “publish” books. They worked in groups to write and illustrate their own stories.  At the end of the month, each site turned in its numbers to see if we reached our goals. GA is proud to say that they not only met them but they surpassed their reading goal!

Great job GPS!
