In-school life skills and substance abuse prevention program

Project Frontliners is a comprehensive youth substance use prevention initiative that specifically targets alcohol, marijuana, and opioid use among minority youth in South Florida’s underserved communities. By using evidence-based programming, Project Frontliners equips these young individuals with the tools to build resilience, make healthy decisions, and significantly reduce substance use. The initiative not only focuses on the students but also trains trusted adults, including educators and community members, in mental health first aid. This training helps address behavioral health disparities and provides a robust support network for youth experiencing mental health crises.
Overall, Project Frontliners strives to foster a positive, resilient environment for students. The program emphasizes the importance of community involvement, continuously assessing and applying data to refine its prevention efforts. Through youth leadership development initiatives and ongoing support for both students and adults, it aims to create lasting, positive change in the lives of South Florida’s minority youth. This initiative stands as a beacon of hope, promoting a healthier future and empowering young people to overcome challenges and thrive.
Our Youth Prevention Specialists empower students by teaching them effective stress management strategies tailored to their individual needs. We inspire youth to assert themselves positively and build lasting self-confidence. Additionally, some students receive personalized support and services when needed.
YEP is funded by United Way of Broward, and DCF to provide substance abuse prevention services.
