Qualifications and Competencies
- A Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services, or a related field is preferred. Candidates without a Bachelor’s degree but with significant relevant experience may be considered.
- At least 2 years of experience in social services, case management, or related role. Experience conducting assessments or providing intake services is preferred.
- Bilingual (English and Haitian Creole) required.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a client-centered approach.
- Proficiency in using client management software and databases.
- Excellent organizational skills, dependent and responsive with attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple tasks
- Ability to work effectively in team environment, excellent interpersonal skills with positive attitude, and maximum discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
- Ability to accept personal differences, establish trusting relationships, and work with culturally diverse populations.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
- Extended knowledge of community and social services in Miami-Dade Count
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
- Must have access to a licensed, insured personal vehicle at all times during work hours for reliable transportation. Mileage reimbursement will be provided for the use of personal vehicles as part of work-related travel.
Position Summary
The Family Support Intake Specialist serves as the first point of contact for individuals and families seeking services under Gang Alternative, Inc.’s Therapy and Parenting Programs, including Circle of Strength (COS) and Circle of Strength Parenting (COSP). The Specialist is responsible for conducting intake assessments, determining program eligibility, and coordinating scheduling for therapy and parenting education services. This role requires a strong understanding of social services, parenting education, and basic mental health principles to ensure clients receive appropriate support.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary liaison for potential clients, providing a welcoming and supportive intake process.
- Conduct comprehensive assessments to evaluate the needs of individuals and families seeking services.
- Complete enrollment forms and all required documentation, ensuring compliance with program protocols and standards.
- Assess eligibility and appropriateness for COS and COSP services based on individual needs and program criteria.
- Coordinate scheduling of services, matching client availability with program staff and resources.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the internal database (e.g., Apricot).
- Provide referrals and linkage to external resources if individuals do not qualify for or cannot be accommodated within the program.
- Work closely with the Program Manager to identify trends, service gaps, and opportunities for process improvements.
- Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about program updates, protocols, and best practices.
- Adhere to Gang Alternative, Inc.’s policies, including confidentiality and data protection standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
